As the year comes to an end, I wanted to take a quick moment to write a very special thank you for a landmark year.
This has been another huge year of growth for us, so I thought I would share some stats and info.
Published authors became more diverse.
We brought on a volunteer graphic designer for cover art.
Were named #7 literary magazine by Chill Subs who described us as "There's nothing else like it."
Started developing teacher lesson plans to go with the short stories.
Add Substack as a delivery platform to better facilitate online discussions.
Raised author pay from $30/story to $75/story.
Read 1,000 submissions. (7% Acceptance Rate)
Increased subscriber revenue by 58%.
Increased website unique visitors by 73%.
Gave out 2,500+ sample digital magazines to prospective subscribers.
I also included an email that came in just yesterday from a reader about how he reads and discusses the stories with his daughters as a way to connect. Honestly, we get a few of these random emails a month.
Of course, we have BIG plans for 2024 as well.
Nine themed books geared towards libraries and classrooms.
Expanded arts grant applications.
Creation of an online writing program.
Syndication of individual stories in magazines with wider distribution networks.
Whatever else we think of on the fly!
