A Virtual Book Club for After Dinner Conversation
Great stories don't end on the last page, they linger, provoke, and demand to be talked about. That's exactly what we do. Once a month, readers from around the world gather on Zoom to dig into one (or two) stories from that month’s issue of After Dinner Conversation magazine. No formal agenda. No literary gatekeeping. Just honest conversation about the ideas, characters, and moral questions the stories stir up.
What to Expect
Each session, we choose one or two stories from the current issue as our focal point. From there, the conversation goes wherever it needs to go, the ethical dilemma at the heart of the plot, the choice a character made, the moment that stuck with you. These are stories designed to make you think, and this is the space to think out loud. Sessions are held via Zoom, free to attend, and open to all readers, whether you've been with After Dinner Conversation for years or just discovered the magazine.
Who Shows Up
Curious people. Readers who underline things. People who want more than entertainment from a story, who want to wrestle with it a little. Our members come from across the country and around the world, which makes the conversations richer than you might expect.
How to Join
We host our events through Luma, which makes signing up simple and handles time zones automatically, so no matter where you are in the world, you’ll always know exactly when to show up. We will send you the applicable magazine to read a few days before the event. You'll want to read the stories before we discuss them. Of course, we hope you will become a paid subscriber and support the mission, but it’s not required. Subscribe to the magazine
