After Dinner Conversation Substack Reaches 150,000 Subscribers
We are excited to share a major milestone—After Dinner Conversation now has over 150,000 subscribers on Substack! This is more than just a number. It’s proof that there is a real hunger for thoughtful, story-driven discussions about the ethical and philosophical questions that shape our lives.
What We Publish
After Dinner Conversation is both a monthly print and digital magazine. Each issue features a collection of short stories written to spark conversation about the biggest questions we face as individuals and as a society. Every story comes paired with discussion questions—tools designed to help friends, families, book clubs, and classrooms engage in meaningful dialogue.
Our Substack republishes the stories from our magazine as weekly emails with a space for commentary. The magazine delivers a curated selection each month in both print and digital formats. Whether you read us on your phone, your tablet, or a physical copy at your kitchen table, our goal is the same: to make philosophy and ethics accessible through storytelling.
Our Mission and Values
At our core, we believe in fostering truth-seeking, reflection, and respectful debate. The mission of After Dinner Conversation is to enhance humanity by encouraging people to slow down, read deeply, and then talk with one another about the ideas raised in our stories.
We value:
Curiosity — asking hard questions and embracing complexity.
Community — building spaces where people can discuss ideas openly.
Accessibility — making philosophy approachable, not academic or abstract.
Diversity of thought — showcasing stories from a range of perspectives, experiences, and voices.
Looking Ahead
Reaching 150,000 subscribers is a milestone, but it’s also a beginning. Our vision is to keep growing a global community of readers who are not only entertained by fiction, but challenged by it. If you’re a long-time supporter, thank you for helping us reach this point. If you’re new, welcome—we’re glad you’re here.
Together, we’re proving that stories still matter, especially when they make us think, question, and grow.
