After Dinner Conversation Receives a 2027 Creative Capacity Grant

After Dinner Conversation has been selected to receive a Creative Capacity Grant for fiscal year 2027, funded by the State of Arizona and administered by the Arizona Commission on the Arts. This is the third time our organization has been awarded state arts funding through the Commission.

The Creative Capacity Grant provides general operating support to Arizona nonprofits whose primary mission is to produce, present, teach, or serve the arts. Applications are reviewed by an independent panel of people who work in or alongside the arts, and awards are based on the strength of each application rather than on financial need.

For us, the grant supports the ongoing work of publishing short fiction that raises ethical and philosophical questions. That includes the stories we run in our monthly magazine and weekly newsletter, the editorial review behind each selection, and the day-to-day operations that keep the magazine running. The funding covers the period from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

Being selected a third time reflects a steady record of doing what we set out to do: use short fiction to get people thinking and talking about difficult questions. We are grateful for the continued support of the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the State of Arizona, and we remain committed to the readers, writers, and supporters who make this work possible.
