Adding Story Content Warnings


After Dinner Conversation, the award-wining literary magazine with a focus on short fiction that asks ethical and philosophical questions is proud to announce, starting with our May, 2024 issue, we will start adding applicable “Content Warnings” at the start of each magazine story.

While we were unable to find a standard list of Content Warnings across media, so we have decided we will be drawing from the following list of options listed below.

Content Warning Options List

• Graphic Violence

• Intense Fight Scenes

• Torture Scenes

• War or Battle Scenes

• Depiction of Self-Harm

2. Sexual Content:

• Sexual Innuendo

• Sexual Situations

• Explicit Sexual Content

• Rape or Sexual Assault

• BDSM Themes

3. Language:

• Mild Language

• Strong Language

• Hate Speech

4. Substance Abuse:

• Depiction of Alcohol Use

• Depiction of Drug Use

• Substance Addiction Themes

5. Thematic Elements:

• Horror Elements

• Supernatural Themes

• Occult or Ritualistic Themes

• Death or Bereavement

• Existential Themes

6. Psychological Content:

• Depiction of Mental Health Issues

• Suicidal Themes

• Eating Disorders

• Trauma and PTSD

7. Discrimination or Prejudice:

• Depiction of Racism

• Content that may be triggering to some readers

* Our goal is for our magazine to be no more than PG-13(ish), but where the story is served by Rated R material, we will include it.
